How to Save YouTube Videos to iPhone Photos (Camera Roll)

· 3 min read · savetool.org Team

There's no "Save to Photos" button in the YouTube app. But you can still save YouTube videos to your iPhone camera roll using Safari and the Files app.

The 4-step method

  1. In the YouTube app, tap Share → Copy link.
  2. Open Safari and go to HD YouTube to MP4. Paste the link and tap Download.
  3. Tap Download HD MP4, then confirm the download.
  4. Open Files → Downloads, tap the video, then Share → Save Video.

Save YouTube Shorts to Photos

Shorts work the same way. Copy the Short's link and follow the steps above, or use the YouTube Shorts Downloader.

Storage tips

A 10-minute 1080p video is roughly 150–300 MB. If your iPhone is low on space, choose MP3 (audio) for podcasts and music — audio files are 10× smaller.

What about YouTube Premium?

Premium downloads are encrypted and only play inside the YouTube app; they can't be moved to Photos.
