TikTok Download Not Working? 9 Fixes for 'Can't Save Video'
· 3 min read · savetool.org Team
Seeing "This action isn't allowed", a missing Save video button, or a failed download? Here's how to fix TikTok download not working problems.
Why the Save Video button is missing
Creators can turn off downloads in Settings → Privacy → Downloads. If they have, the in-app button disappears. A web TikTok downloader can still fetch public videos — but please respect creators who opt out of reposting.
9 fixes
- Copy the link again — make sure you used Share → Copy link.
- Check the video is public — private and friends-only videos can't be downloaded.
- Check it still exists — deleted videos return an error.
- Use the full URL — if a short link fails, open it and copy the full tiktok.com/@user/video/… address.
- Update TikTok if the in-app save button fails.
- Free up storage on your phone.
- iPhone: check Settings → Safari → Downloads has a location set.
- Android: allow Chrome to save files (Settings → Apps → Chrome → Permissions).
- Try MP3 — if a video won't download, the audio often will.
Still stuck?
Wait a minute and retry — TikTok occasionally rate-limits requests. If the video is region-locked, it may not be available to download at all.
